IAKP TRAINING WITH JOSÉ LUIS DEL SOLAR
Kambo Practitioner Training in the Peruvian Amazon
1–15 April 2027 · Peru · 14 days
An immersive two-week professional practitioner training combining in-depth theory, extensive hands-on practice and the unique cultural and environmental context of the Peruvian Amazon.
THE AMAZON EXPERIENCE
Living and learning in the forest
The Peru training offers the experience of living and learning in the forest environment where the frog lives. The sounds, rhythm and atmosphere of the Amazon are part of daily life, giving direct context to what cannot be understood abstractly.
Immersive time learning in the forest includes a night walk with a Matsés elder. Frogs are completely wild animals, so no encounter can be promised; the experience depends entirely on nature.

TRADITIONAL KNOWLEDGE
Learning through respectful observation
Students may accompany a Matsés elder and witness the traditional process surrounding Kambo. The experience is about respectful observation and listening, offering cultural and ecological context that deepens understanding.
It helps students appreciate the origins of a practice that is now global while respecting boundaries and roles. Students are observers rather than being trained to collect secretion themselves.
SETTING & ACCOMMODATION
Where you’ll be studying
The training takes place at a comfortable rustic lodge in the forest. Shared rooms and meals are included, with food using local ingredients wherever possible. The nurturing, English-speaking team will accommodate dietary requirements as far as realistically possible, although jungle logistics can limit food options and some flexibility is necessary.
A limited number of private bungalows may be available at additional cost. Packing, travel and arrival information is provided after enrolment. Heat, rain, insects and jungle conditions are part of being there, so the experience requires a sense of adventure.

CURRICULUM
What you’ll learn
This two-week training combines in-depth theory with extensive hands-on practice. You’ll explore the science, history and traditional context of Kambo alongside the practical foundations of safe and responsible practice, including consultations, contraindications, protocols, first aid, application techniques and aftercare.
The emphasis is not on following a recipe, but on developing judgement, learning how to think through each situation and adapt responsibly.
